MY PERSONAL COLLECTION - ROULLETTE - Resort 2027
Creative Direction / Art Direction / Design (AI inclusive) / Styling by: Leydi Urbaez
All developed with AI agent.
I have been learning AI in my spare time, allowing myself to be curious and daring when it comes to working on my own ideas while simultaneously learning how to best utilize this technology, leveraging it as a partner and not a "truth-teller" throughout my process.
This entire launch was created with AI, but that doesn't mean that I just took pictures and ran it through the engine blindly... This takes immense amount of skill, critical thinking and focusing on quality.
I still had to:
▶️ Find my inspiration, create the story
▶️ Establish the Roullette DNA
▶️ Choose salable yet elegant prints
▶️ Create an emotional color palette that works for all fabrics and prints
▶️ Select core fabrics that can encompass all the ideas i've got going on
▶️ Quickly hand sketch (and EDIT) a tight assortment that can still speak to the overall vision of the brand. I had to keep in mind proportion, drape and make sure I showed beautiful details that could be used throughout the collection.
▶️ Create a brief for beauty and accessories direction along with thinking about what I would like the editorial to look like. This way from runway to on set to e-commerce, the vision remains cohesive.
▶️ Find reference images that spoke to the aesthetic, the poses and overall vibe of the "shoot"
▶️ And finally, walk my agent through every single detail that I wanted, down to the trims which didn't always work out. There was a lot of working on photoshop to finish what couldn't get done.
I gave myself a budget of.... however many "credits" I had available on the platform. Which funny enough, forced me to exercise editing, a designers LEAST favorite thing to do (can we live?)
Most importantly, I gave myself permission to live out this dream that would otherwise require a huge upfront capitol or a lot of knowing people that I simply don't have access to.
I have worked in this industry for almost 2 decades and I can assure you there's no such thing as sweat equity. AI may be controversial and I have my own reservations, but it's why i'm learning as much as I can to be able to move as ethically as possible in this unknown world. One thing I DO know, it has allowed me to produce something I could be proud of in a real way that shows my vision. There was a lot of learning curves and I challenge anyone that thinks this is easy to try it... oh what a time.
